NEW RELEASE BONANZA THIS MONTH!

GOOD GROOMING FOR GIRLS, A SHAMELESS COMPILATION
Permafrost Records and Shameless Magazine have put together a 22-track all-girl-band/-singer compilation that features both new and used songs from previous Wavelength-related favourites, such as: The Barcelona Pavilion, Domaine D'or, controller.controller, The Blow, Republic of Safety, Heidi Hazelton, Magneta Lane, Cougar Party, Sick Lipstick, The Phonemes, and Jon-Rae Fletcher and the River. I'm still not sure how it happened, but the rest of the tracks were filled with artists from Sub Pop, Kill Rock Stars, K and Rough Trade. There are new tracks from Kimya Dawson (of the Moldy Peaches) and Mecca Normal, too. The disc hits the usual stores on September 14th and has a full weekend release on September 17th to 19th, please visit www.permafrostrecords.com for more details (and online orders). Oh yeah, the whole point of this disc '” it's a fundraiser for Shameless Magazine to help pay the printing bills until the magazine takes off '” and it will. The CD is limited edition, will sell for 10 dollars and has cute artwork. www.shamelessmag.com

STOP MOVEMENT STOP LOSS '” CREEPING NOBODIES
The Creeping Nobodies are releasing their second album, Stop Movement Stop Loss on Blocks Recording Club. It was recorded with Wharton Tiers (Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore, Theoretical Girls, etc.) in New York and Dale Morningstar at The Gas Station on Toronto Island. A couple of tracks were recorded and mixed by the guys from Do Make Say Think. There is a release gala at Cinecycle on September 25th with Les Mouches. There is a tour in the U.S., Pop Montreal and more. Check out www.thecreepingnobodies.com

LET IT MELLOW '” WAYNE OMAHA
Transsiberian Music, from out west, picked up the lovable rock dudes from Toronto known as Wayne Omaha. There is a CD release extravaganza at the Horseshoe on September 16th with the Freckles & NQ Arbuckle. The track 'œMoonlight'? appears on the recent Goldirocks movie soundtrack and a video for the track should be done soon. Check out www.wayneomaha.com for more info.

CIRCLE GETS THE SQUARE '” FEMME GENERATION
Technically, this disc was out in August but it's officially in stores now, so you should check it out. It's a six-song EP and eye and NOW have both jerked off while listening to it. If you check out CDs based on good reviews '” go get it. If you check out CDs based on the niceness of the band '” go get it, too. Great guys. www.femmegeneration.com.

THE CONSTANT LOVER '” MAGNETA LANE
I write blurbs about these ladies every month, it seems. The disc finally hits stores at the end of the month. It's also an EP and also really great from what I've heard. September 28th is the release date. They are still 19 so I'd see them live now while they are still young and vibrant. For more info: www.paperbagrecords.com (their site is down, I think, until the release of the disc, http://www.magnetalane.com).

FUNERAL '” ARCADE FIRE
I'll see you in line, September 14th.

JUST A REMINDER
90 Minute Party '” It's been more successful than people thought. Some out-of-town bands are scheduled this month, TBA. Check it out, every Sunday Afternoon in Kensington Market.

LADYFEST TORONTO
It starts on the last day of September! Keep your eyes and ears open for details. www.ladyfest.ca.

GENERAL SOUND
This is more of a 'œstarting soon'? rather than a 'œreminder'? but there is a new weekly called General Sound taking place at The Hooch (above Gypsy Co-op). It'll be every Tuesday in September, PWYC, with a pretty good line-up already. Confirmed are: The Pauls, The Silent Film Soundtrack, Deep Dark United, The Majesties, and Beep. E-mail Jan if you have any questions. http://generalsound.morlando.com.
