1am - FRESH SNOW
Toronto – Immersive, minimalist psychedelic rock rooted in the “kozmische” sounds of 1970s Germany. Cut-and-paste electronics, guitar distortion and the occasional pop melody come together to mesmerize you in lockgroove lockstep. A quartet of record store nerds/employees, Fresh Snow also features the talents of Born Ruffians’ Andy Lloyd on bass and keys.
12am - DEL BEL
Guelph/Toronto - Originally conceived as a vehicle for bassist/composer Tyler Belluz, Del Bel has morphed into a sprawling collective of players who embody an eerie cinematic sound infused with darkened soul and surf rock styles. Their 2011 long-player Oneiric made many critics’ best-of lists, in part thanks to the stunning vocals of Lisa Conway (L CON, Chrome and the Ice Queen). After a half-year hiatus, Del Bel are currently hard at work on their second album, somewhere in a juke joint full of film canisters.
11pm - MOST PEOPLE
Toronto - Pastoral pop for the young and wild at heart, multi-instrumentalists Brandon DeGroote and Paul McEachern incorporate programmed electronics, double-drumming and harmonized vocals into their hypnotizing live show. Self-titled debut album released at a Wavelength show CineCycle this past winter; promptly set local music blogosphere ablaze.
10pm - OS TROPIES
Toronto – Authentic recreations of the original Tropicália sound of ‘60s Brazil made infamous by Os Mutantes, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Tom Zé and others. A crew of fantastic T.O. players making that revolutionary spirit as relevant as ever.
9pm – FIN
Toronto – Musician and painter Rebecca Fin, creative foil of Petra Glynt’s Alex MacKenzie, expressing soulful heartache, bravery and crimes of passion - by any means necessary.
