Wavelength, Hart House Stages, and Demo: The Hart House Music Magazine co-present:

Youth in Toronto Music: Trends, Barriers and Experiences (Panel Discussion)

Join us for this panel, which will explore the role of youth in Toronto’s music scene by looking at the new avenues in which we listen to, perform, and experience music. Many of us feel we don't have clear opportunities to express our artistic creativity and engage with the music community. We often attend festivals where we have the chance to see multiple bands in quick succession. We listen to music through streaming services, where entire catalogues are available to us in an instant. This can become overwhelming and potentially alienating. This interactive panel will explore the topics of trends, barriers, and experiences of youth in Toronto, and ways we can grow this to become a productive and thriving Music City.

Panelists:
Jonathan Bunce (Artistic Director of Wavelength and Former U of T Student)
Mike Tanner (Music Sector Development Officer - City of Toronto)
Ayo Leilani (Youth Musician in Above Top Secret)
Cheryl Maciver (Music Programmer at NXNE)
Marko Cindric (Editor-in-Chief of Demo Magazine)

This event will be moderated by Emily Scherzinger, a recent U of T graduate and former editor-in-chief for Demo.
