Doc and his damn form letter! Take 3: 1. You in the frost of the cold north. Does the weather affect your music? Does dreary weather make you write more aggressive songs? if you lived in a sunny climate do you think your songs would feel more relaxed?
I generally find winter peaceful. Like death. My aggressive stuff is usually written in the summer and fall. And spring. So, no.
2. What do you do when you are angry at one of your songs? Do you rehearse it, do you take it out onstage with you and fight with it during a live show?
Oh, fight it on stage. Rehearsal is for boring people who like boring music to be boring.
3. Have you ever been brought to tears by a live performance?
I've been pepper sprayed by the cops, if that's what you mean.
4. Have you ever been brought to tears by a work of art? How does this catharsis feel compred to being brought to tears through music?
It's probably like watching Oprah or something. I have no idea.
5. How does one "see" sound? Does it have to do with memory and the impressions a song creates comes from those memories? Does it have to do with your reaction in the moment and is it the song that carves its meaning onto you?
Probably?
6. Does your interpretation of a song change through the years? Has a song you wrote early on in your musical adventure transformed itself over the years to mean something entirely different to you than it did originally or does an old song transfix the feelings all those years ago and does the meaning remain immobile?
My interpretation of my old songs is that I was lying to sound cool so I could meet girls.
7. Imagine I am asking you a seventh question right here. What would my question be? What would your answer be to that question?
Q: What's the deal with airline food?
A: I know, eh?
