Why would I even begin by telling you what 20hz (formerly Secret Arcade) is? You all know. I think even my 12-year-old neighbour Todd goes on the site (20hz.ca) too, but he doesn't post '” just like you don't, but you read it; sometimes you say you're never coming back, but you always do. Well, there is an official party/get-together for social weirdoes to convene with each other and say hello without the potential embarrassment of feeling like a nerd. For all those people who are gonna make fun of this event, fine. Do so. But it's so fucking obvious that you're gonna watch all the 'œnerds'? live via the Drake webcam because you wanted to go but you were too much of a wuss so you just jerked off at home while watching the sea of awkwardness. Fuck it '” it'll be a hoot. The 20hz party happens Sat. Aug. 7 @ the Drake Underground, with performances by A Vertical Mosaic (www.averticalmosaic.ca), mn-l (www.mn-l.com), Kat Burns (www.katinthehat.cjb.net), Teh New Sneaks (sic) and MC Nick Flanagan. Broadcasted live via webcam at www.thedrakehotel.ca.
WAVELENGTH PERFORMER SELF-TRAUMATISED, FINDS NEW LIFE DIRECTION
What the shit is this? Is this News? Is this a Letter? Either way, Konrad has something to say: 'œAfter finding out one of his private fetish pictures had been published in the July 2004 issue of Wavelength, Konrad Junikiewicz of The Marauder cut off most of his hair and began to speak at motivational seminars in local high schools. He is rumoured to be starting a new band called Band of Wagons with sister Jessie Stein. He considers the Wavelength show to be a '˜success' and plans on helping out '˜fellow scenesters' once he's done with the 14- to 18-year-olds.'? Yours, Konrad. www.konradisrad.com
ZINESTER USHERS IN 21ST 'œSTUPID'? CENTURY
I love DVDs and I love zines. How can I somehow combine these two in order to create something great and make money? Fuck. Electrical Tape did it first. Electrical Tape is a completely independent, Toronto-based music zine in DVD format, presenting profiles of the (mostly) local indie music scene. The Creeping NOOO-BODDDYs, Anagram, Les Mouches and more are featured on the disc with bios/videos and other. $8 at shows, $11 over the Internet and $9.99 at stores. The founder of Electrical Tape will only continue the project if people purchase this one '” so I think he wants you to support it. I had a good time on his website, www.electricaltape.ca. To order the DVD, go here: www.thebluehouse.org
PARTIERS: 'œWE COULD DO IT IN 90 MINUTES, RIGHT?'?
'œI'm so bored, only six hours until Wavelength'? must have been the thoughts the creators of the 'œ90 Minute Party'? had. 'œ90 MINUTE PARTY!'? is set to begin on July 25th. It is a weekly music series that kicks off on Sunday until the bitter cold drives us all inside. Shows will be held in a secluded back alley lot that holds up to 40 people who want to get together in the late afternoon from 4 to 5:30pm in the market for some socializing and music. Interested bands and acts should email Clarke at demosttito@hotmail.com to be added to upcoming line-ups.
MELIGROVE BAND WEASELS IN ON THEIR FRIENDS, IN A FRIENDLY WAY, of course
Right now The Meligrove Band are finishing their new album, with Jose Contreras (By Divine Right) turning the knobs. MuchMusic watchers can also see members of the band in the current Joel Plaskett, By Divine Right, Masia One, and Waking Eyes videos '” not because they are actors or anything, just '˜cuz their friends made videos at the same time.

DON'T FORGET TO BRING THE VINO AND CANOLLI
The Roxton Mutant Bocce Alliance invites any interested bocce enthusiasts to come out and serve as spectators and supporters. For those who are not familiar with the sport, bocce is the Italian equivalent of lawn bowling, marbles and/or curling (with neither the ice nor the screams of 'œHarder! Hurry!'? to deal with). League play has already kicked in, and the knockout round will start sometime in August. Some notable Roxton MBA participants include members of The Old Soul, More Plastic, Blackeyes, The BackTheFuckups and Lenin i Shumov. All games are played at Fred Hamilton Park (accessible from either Shaw Street or Roxton Road, just a block south of College Street). The first pallino is tossed out every Thursday evening at around 6:30pm, weather permitting.
ESCAPE WITH/FROM YOUR FRIENDS
The Escape Goat Records folks are assembling a festival of sorts the third weekend of August, entitled With Friends Like These: A Celebration of the Pros & Cons of Community. Here are the show line-ups: Sea Snakes, Final Fantasy and Purple Hill, Thurs. Aug. 19 at Sneaky Dee's; The Vermicious Knid, The S.S. Cardiacs and The Bicycles, Sat. Aug. 21 at Sneaky Dee's; Heidi Hazleton and Jon Wayner, Sun. Aug. 22 at 4pm at 69.5 Nassau St.; and wrapping up with Neil Haverty and Ryan Stanley Aug. 22 at Wavelength. See our interview with Escape Goat's Cam Finlayson on page 17. www.escapegoatrecords.com
