There's one last big music festival happening at the CNE band shell September 16 thru 18. Ear To The Ground features lots of Wavelength favourites like Holy Fuck, Republic of Safety, Jon-Rae and The River, Final Fantasy, and Julie Doiron, as well as some big name out-of-towners like Sleater Kinney, Brendan Benson and Kid Koala. Speaking of celebrities, a couple of big ones showed up at The Boat August 13. Dan Aykroyd and Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood and their respective entourages tapped their toes at the Goin' Steady dance party happening that night. The jury is still out as to if it was The Boat's review on martiniboys.com that was the catalyst for their star cameos.
Long-time Wavelength contributor, Smokey Campbell, was married to his long-time ladyfriend, and also long-time Wavelength contributor, Pussy Powers, on August 13 in Bright's Grove, ON. Congratulations motherfuckers!
The Bagel had quite the show August 19. Quite the show in fact, that No Dynamics had to move their second CD release show the next night to The Tranzac. We here at Wavelength aren't sure what the exact story was, but there was messageboard whisperings of 'œover-capacity'? and 'œundercover cops.'? But shows at The Bagel will go on.
