Two Bears
By wavelength ~ Posted Wednesday, February 1st 2006A bear is a large mammal of the order Carnivora, family Ursidae. Common characteristics of bears include a short tail, excellent sense of smell and hearing, five un-retractable claws, and long, dense, shaggy fur. While these magnificent beasts possess a large body with powerful limbs, Two Bears are twice as large and powerful, as Sef found out recently.
Hey Two Bears, I bet you've got one massively entertaining back-story. Spill it.
We met years ago playing in the band Kill Mannequin. A few years later we became roommates, deciding then that we should start a band involving less hassle and more fun. Two members meant only two schedules to worry about. We had a set of drums and a guitar, but needed to fill in the gaps. After building and fixing a few amps, mics and pedals, Two Bears was born. Also, we bought some beer.
There's this band called "Lightning Bolt", see'¦
Who's Lightning Bolt?!?
Umm'¦any other influences?
We both have a great number of artists that we draw influence from, mutually or otherwise. A few bands that we both draw from include Arab On Radar, Pink and Brown, Femme Fatale, Mindflayer, Flying Luttenbachers... you get the idea. If you can dance to it or bang your head to it, we probably listen to it.
What's with the on-stage wearing of facemasks?
Well, we don't like the idea of having a stationary microphone that we have to continually come back to. This way the microphone is always right in front of our faces, so we don't have to think about singing as much. We like it easy.
You two run a distro as well. How's that coming along?
It's a Disaster! has been in a slight hibernation lately, but we do still run the label/distro. We have moved away from setting up at shows because of time restraints, but will hopefully have itsadisaster.com up and running shortly. We are both big supporters of local music and hope to use It's a Disaster! to highlight and support some of the groups we are rather fond of.
I'm expecting this to be an especially loud edition of Wavelength. Are earplugs a must-have accessory?
We are more like Vivaldi... wait, yes. Earplugs.
