Friday Morning\\'s Regret

Earnest and honest, "Friday Morning's Regret" will orchestrate a sunny afternoon's worth of wistful daydreams while you ponder life's insecurities. It should be noted that in Tyrone Warner's email exchange with the band, the divine nature of Gmail's automated advertising pointed Gavin Gardener towards "7 Great Financial Prayers for Lasting Financial Success." The prophetic nature of this advertisement was enough to send a shiver down Tyrone's hardened journalistic soul. Almost. Here's the Q and A.

Give me a quick rundown of your band, but try to describe it as if you were explaining it to a child.

What's important to remember is that music, not unlike other things in life, is built in blocks. If we were building a fort we'd have to start with a strong foundation. From there we'd build walls, doorways and maybe even windows. If we're lucky we'll have some help to decorate the walls. Friends are always welcome and in lonesome times they help to bring new light into our little fort.

Why should anyone give a damn about what your band has to say?

Because ugly people are smarter than pretty ones and I try really hard to put words together that make sense and sound good.

Who is in your band?

Andrew Wyatt, Chris Cocca, Gavin Gardiner and Anissa Hart whenever possible.

Is there a leader in your band, or conversely, is anyone expendable?

That changes day to day; most of the time we just walk around like chickens with our heads cut off. More often than not we're all expendable.

Your band is called "Friday Morning's Regret." Inquiring minds want to know just what particular Thursday night incident begat this name.

From time to time we indulge in a specific story but for today the name comes from a recurring theme running deep through the band. Plus I have a girlfriend now who doesn't need to hear all the gory details.

What is the ultimate goal of your band?

To sing the national anthem at a Leafs game and backup Bruce Springsteen at the 2007 Grammy Awards. We'd also like to finish our album before the year's out; that would be great too.

Describe the greatest moment your band has ever experienced on stage.

I don't know about greatest moment but I do have a few favorites. And since this is for Wavelength I'll do a top 4.
1. Wyatt puking on stage on his birthday.
2. Wyatt going down on his knees on top of a microphone snake.
3. A show where I introduced each of our songs as obscure Chris Cornell covers.
4. Every time someone requests a specific song of ours.

Say your band decides to pray before a show; what would that prayer be, and who would it be said to?

Idle hands are the devils tool; I often pray to god that mine will remember to do what I taught them. We might also pray to Gene Simmons and ask him to bless our little folk songs.

Finally, please tell me a secret that no one else knows about your band.

We are always talking about changing our name.
