Sherpafeast

If you were into 'Ĺ“Bad Bands'? way back before it was a concert, a CD and a fight you might know about Sherpafeast. Sherpadee has been in Germany (just like Peaches!) but is back in town to reform with the ubiquitous Matt Collins for a Wavelength Gig. What will they sound like? Evan Dickson didn't have the guts to ask.

Matt Collins, every time I hear your name it's about some new band you have. What the hell is the difference with this one?

Well, for starters, this is an old band. Sherpafeast was active between 1999 and 2003. You could call SF a proto-bad-band, along with Just Like The Movies, Positron and The Two Lovers.

Upon learning that Sherpafeast was booked for September, Wavelength's family practitioner, Dr. Pickles exclaimed, "They are so in on the joke!" Is that all life is to you? A big joke? When are you going to get your priorities straight and get down to business?

Wait, is the joke that we're playing next month? Is Doc in on the joke? He's a terrific straight man. It's because he knows from experience that business is a joke. A hilarious joke that involves slash-and-burn farming, money laundering, blatant aboveground slavery and the slaughter of millions every year in the name of military industrial complex stock options. What a funny joke! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Sherpafeast sounds like a reference to cannibalism. Have you ever seen Cannibal Holocaust? What are your favourite cannibal movies?

Eating Raoul and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. I have not seen Cannibal Holocaust.

How about this moral debate: which is less evil, cannibalism or regular murder? For the purpose of this debate, the cannibal kills the victim prior to devouring him/her. And forget about any "plane crash in the mountains" scenario. This is pre-meditated, "I feel like Chinese tonight" cannibalism.

I would say cannibalism, but only in an Eastern Orthodox "Use the whole beast" kind of way. Well, probably in a United Church kind of way too. Baptists wouldn't the hell stand for cannibalism, that's for sure.
