Terror Lake
WL 351 - Sunday, February 18 -- 10pm
Purveyors of: Motherfucking rock music.
It's hard to tell if Terror Lake are regular, everyday people transformed into badass rock'n'roll stars, or if they were ripped from the ground, fully formed as hardened weapons of sonic badassness. Tyrone Warner looked for an answer, but discovered you don't need one. All you need is 120 seconds of drums and guitars blaring in your face, and you'll be satisfied. Satisfied by Terror Lake.
Tell me about who is in the band, Terror Lake.
Wendy Fowler: A dead girl's twin sister is forced by a crook to pose as her sister's ghost. Tim Okura: An explorer in the Arctic North is frozen alive in suspended animation for centuries and reawakened in the present day. Matt Wearn: An aging, deformed man trapped in the intense heat and sulphur fumes caused by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius finds his youth restored and his deformities cured.
Why did you people get together to form a band?
Terror Lake fell victim to voodoo curses and man-eating cobra plants that transformed them into zombies. They are unwilling to believe that magic is responsible, but they cannot deny the evidence and have to fight back the only way they know how.
What is usually the first thing your band thinks about before you launch into the first note of a set?
Oh shit. Is that Mounsey?
Do you perceive your band as a member of as a member of a “scene” or do you prefer to think of yourselves as lone wolves?
Terror Lake is a part of the Lone Wolf scene.
People are going crazy for Terror Lake. Why do you think that is? What are people making a connection with?
Man-Eating Monster Sounds.
If you could play a gig anywhere in Toronto that isn’t a “conventional” venue, where would you choose?
The Bowlerama.
What are some of the bands/artists/whatever that influence Terror Lake?
Monster movies, National Geographic magazines from 1963 to 1971, souped-up jalopies, Hawaiian tan-lines and fancy drinks with umbrellas.
Please recommend some other good bands that people should check out.
Atomic 7.
Finally, are there any secrets in your band that you wish to air right now? What does nobody know about Terror Lake?
Our bass player is buried in a swamp, outside the hidden basin east of Lookout Creek.
