Quebexico

WL 372 - Sunday, July 22 - 12am
Purveyors of: Making headphones explode.
The soon-to-be defunct Quebexico have been crunching brains with their sloppy, off-tuned and vicious musical prowess for the last three years. Alas, all things must end and so go the Quebexicans. The band spoke to Matt Pilgrim about where their musical careers are headed once they finish their farewell tour and hint towards a man-crush on Gary Busey.
A review of one of your shows described your music as "weak indie drivel masquerading as rock music that sounds like it was thrown together the night before with a train wreck of a singer who believes his own hype." Is it true? Do you believe your own hype? If so, what is this hype?
Haters are gonna hate. It was never our intention to satisfy everyone with our "music". To give you the honest-to-god truth, this particular review was found via-Google search. It is not in any way or form legit journalism. It was a testimonial from some Joe Schmoe's guestbook. Guestbooks have as little say in the world as 1998 does. Let's be honest, when was the last time someone requisitioned you to "sign their gbook"?
Crackers are to cheese as Quebexico are to...
Drunken endeavors that pull through the next morning...
What actor would play each member of the band in a movie?
We would clone Gary Busey four times and there you would have it.
You guys are calling it quits after you finish the shows you've already booked; this means that the Wavelength show will be one of your last in Toronto. What will you do to make this show special?
Sharing the stage with the likes of all-mighty Be Bad and Varge. What more could such masquerade rockers ask for?
What is everyone's plan for the future?
Davey (our Ottawa constituency) plays for a band called Million-Dollar Marxists and also a solo effort entitled Mail Nurse. Whereas our Toronto chapter Jon, Steve, and Chris play in a new band called Teenager. Stay tuned. Quebexico has been fun but it's now time for us all to move on. Thank you to Wavelength for putting us up twice. One Love.
