northamorica

The band known as northamorica is a foreboding enigma. Their true activities are shrouded by corporate doublespeak and intense pop songs. No doubt their hidden purpose spells doom for all of humanity, but we will be left ignorant until it is too late to save ourselves. So on instead of worrying about your future destruction, why not enjoy some tunes instead? Ignorance is bliss, baby!
Your band is largely a mystery, even to the omniscient Internet. Who are you and what do you want from us?
Next question.
Word has it you followed Doc Pickles into the bathroom to get this gig. What is the secret to your motivation?
Story A:
An insatiable burning desire for Love. By Love I mean cock...I mean Doc. Whoops! I meant Doc's cock. Our eyes locked and I knew it was for real.
Or...
Story B:
I was washing my hands after I got rid of a few red caps and he walked in. So, I guess technically speaking he followed me in. (Or at least that's how I remember it now, three months later, sober and trying to save face... because boy, would that ever be embarrassing if I actually followed Doc Pickles into the washroom and desperately begged for a show.) We had met a few months before at Wavelength (the night that the Luya's played, if I recall correctly). I had e-mailed the good folks at Wavelength a few times soliciting a show, and was getting no response, so I used the opportunity to chat in person, put a face to a name etc.
We really wanted to play Wavelength. It cannot be overstated - Wavelength is super cool shit and in so many ways. It is our favorite music night in Toronto. It's nice to watch all these great shows, but we felt we could contribute to the Wavelength community as performers as well.
Where and how did you record your EP, Unfrontier?
Unfrontier was recorded over the course of three days at Adam Ferri's Orchard Studio in Brampton, Ontario. We recorded it off the floor, and picked the best takes. Vocals were laid down after the fact. We didn't want to lose any energy, plus it was more in the budget to do it that way.
Any plans for an LP?
Yes, most definitely. Um... say does anybody out there have, oh, $10,000 they could lend us?
Probably another EP first.
What do you think of Facebook? Assistance, surveillance, or nuisance?
All three at times. These are not necessarily exclusive categories. We are all becoming media.
What do you want for Christmas?
WORLD PEACE (except for Paul, he wants a Golden Retriever). And you know, if enough people think it, Paul might actually get his Retriever.
What do I want for Christmas? (Please forward your answer to my parents.)
The Wire: The Complete Fourth Season DVD set.
Your MySpace page lists your influences as "cities are prime examples of highly ordered dissipative systems." As a fan the Baltimore cop show The Wire I find that statement very interesting; please expand.
Answer A
My cousin thinks he is a smarty pants, and sometimes says things without knowing what they mean.
Or...
Answer B
Society is battling the decay of it's self imposed structures. Collecting entropy and recycling it. It's a daily thing.
Or...
Answer C
We find it inspiring, being part of a higher metabolism.
...
Maybe we will go with C.
