Images Festival — Day Eleven: Last Port of Call

Well, well.... tonight is the last night of the Images Festival, one of Wavelength's favourite annual events in the City of Toronto. Let's be honest — you've had ten days in which to catch some of the most amazing programming you aren't going to see anywhere else.... aaaaaand you didn't go to any of it, did you? We know you indie rock types all too well... you went to see the same old bands at the same old clubs, didn't you? (Sigh...) Your last chance to repent for your lack of adventurousness is entitled The Monkey and the Mermaid, and it takes place tonight at 9 in the breathtakingly gorgeous surroundings of St. Anne's Anglican Church (270 Gladstone Ave., N. of Dundas), which is the main church connected to the parish hall that Workman Arts calls home. TMATM is a collaboration between Winnipeg singer/songwriter/pianist Christine Fellows and visual artist Shary Boyle, who you may remember from her live overhead projection jam with Jens Lekman at the Music Gallery a few years back. Multi-instrumentalist Jason Tait of the Weakerthans and Bahamas joins them on stage. Should be totally splendid; we'll be sure to tell you all about it.
