Toronto Tracks - Alex "The Alligator" Lukashevsky
By kevin ~ Posted Tuesday, May 25th 2010Deep Dark United frontman has a new solo record out and you need it on your iTunes right now. Prints of Darkness blends Alex's solo bluesy work on Connexions with the caffeinated jazz of Deep Dark United and then sails along on a wind instrument breeze. Alex is one of Toronto's most innovative songwriters and if you're not familiar with his work or if you have heard Owen Pallett's cover versions of his solo and Deep Dark United songs then do yourself a favour and stop whatever it is your doing and listen:

I asked Alex a few questions and instead of posting them, I'll just give you his answers:
Sometimes i write for the branches and sometimes for the trees.
Deep Dark United was my songs. When i play with Dee and Daa (Felicity Williams and Daniela Gesundheit) its also my songs.
Its nice to play in a city where you can go to a corner store or a deli and buy a nice can of beer for small money and then do the same after you play too.
It was couscous and blues and unnatural evolution.
Well that's very personal but ok - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJKkqC8JVXk - i try to not listen to anything else.
