Then see it screened and performed properly this Friday, 9pm, June 4, the Garrison, by Mr. Poppy Seed himself, Toronto's eleusive psychedelic warrior.
A long time ago there was a place called the ninties, a time when visual exposure for Canadian bands was reigned over by a puppet king named Mike Bullard. While I was fanworshipping A Tuesday Weld and 122 Greige and Parts Unknown and all of those Theta State Records bands, Poppy Seed was busy carving out a psycedelic world of his own with his Love Explosion Orchestra.
Our paths finally got to cross at Sedated Sundays at the elMocambo, Steve would screen all sorts of obscure films and put on beautifully not-prime-time bands chock full of many of my favorite people who came out of those Theta State days of old. Wavelength's weekly series followed in his Sedated Sunday footsteps. He's a musical planet X who swoops in unexpectedly with beautiful swooshing jangly slightly Morrisyesque pastiche swirling music, this video is especially stunning. Wavelengthers will recognize the unmistakable lighting of General Chaos Visuals.
This Friday June 4 at the Garrison, Mr. Seed will be lit by the soft sworl of General Chaos to celebrate the release of The Comet, a beautiful video directed by Mean Red Spider Greg Chambers. Joined by In Support Of Living and The Ulitimatemost High. Doors open at the Garrison behind a thick cloud of strange smoke at 9pm.
