A belated ALL CAPS! Island Festival thank you

This is a much belated thank you to everyone who came out and made this year’s ALL CAPS! Island Festival at Artscape Gibraltar Point. The bands, the artists, the wonderful Artscape staff, the volunteers and the attendees together all made it a really unique and amazing experience. After the success of last October’s ALL CAPS! Island Show, we weren’t sure how a two day festival would play out. Very well, it turns out. Artscape Gibraltar Point has a way of bringing out the positive vibes and good spirits. From The Magical Bunch's eye-popping chops to Rick White playing at the Gibraltar Point Lighthouse at dusk with General Chaos’ projections behind him getting brighter as the sun set. The dance party was well under way by the time Bocce went on, made all the more communal because by then most of the crowd had their face painted by Maria Bui. And if you want to see the screenings by Nicolas Pye, or didn't get to see them the first time, you can thankfully find both of the works on vimeo; The Coronation and Loudly, Death Unties. And CATL capped off the fest on the second night with an awesome set outside in the picnic area, with fireworks punctuating Workin’ Man Blues (there a snippet of video here.
Thanks so much to everyone that came out to this, all the awesome sets by the bands, and the truly wonderful people at the AGP. From the dance parties to Tomas from Romo Roto's island dance to the sun setting during Rick's set to the swimming to the incredible food at the BBQ to the readings to the volleyball to the amazing face painting to the picnic table at the beach to the rain for leaving us alone and letting CATL play outside... it would take me forever to mention it all.
And be sure to check out this short video feature about the show by Cheldon (aka Professor Fingers) and Vanese of Otnorot Productions.
Next year we're going to do another. August 13-14, 2011. Mark your calendar now.
