Happy Hooded Holidays from Wavelength!
By jonny ~ Posted Sunday, December 26th 2010Happy Holidays! We hope that Christmas was awesome for everyone who celebrates it or uses it as a chance to have a day off and do nothing. We've been gorging on turkey and cheese and year-end best-of lists... and in that spirit, we have an overdue Xmas present for you, our devoted followers of the Wavelog (whoever and wherever you may be) — a downloable track from one of year's best Toronto albums, Album by Hooded Fang! "Laughing" is a delightful, chocolate-cake-sized slab of their lush and buoyant indie-pop. Feel free to add it to all your holiday mix CDs! Here's another surprise gift: Hooded Fang will also be appearing at ELEVEN, the Wavelength 11th Anniversary Festival, coming up Feb. 16-20, 2011.

On a related note, Hooded Fang side project HUT are playing one of their first few shows tonight (Dec. 26) at Wavelength 512 at The Garrison (1197 Dundas St. W.). We're marking holidays by bringing Wavelength back on a Sunday for one night only, the first night of the Garrison's second annual Boxing Day Special Food Drive and Festival. Other acts performing include stylish garage-pop trio Modernboys Moderngirls, piano/electronics wizard John Kameel Farah (back for Xmas from an artist residency in Berlin), drone/doom duo Bryan W Bray (Gardenia, Gates, Orca) & Chris Worden (Electric Eclectics) and improv/math-rawk dude Taylor Patterson of LAN Party. Doors are 9, make sure to bring $5 and a non-perishable food donation.
And stay tuned this week for lots of year-end list action here at Wavelength, as we look back on our last 12 months of activity, as well as listing our own Top 10s of 2010.
