Camp in Dufferin Grove Tonight
By ryan ~ Posted Friday, August 26th 2011Tonight, Friday Aug. 26th, you can camp in Dufferin Grove Park. The park, a model for community engagement and utilizing public space, is undergoing unwanted staffing changes and cuts to their programming. To show support for the park, organizers are just asking that people pitch a tent and camp out overnight. So you get to camp out in Dufferin Grove, for free, in support of an amazing park and their programs. And the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow is beautiful! This is truly win-win.
Dufferin Grove Park and the staff that work there were instrumental in helping to realize the ALL CAPS! Outdoor Show, which was held for two years in the south west corner of the park before evolving into the ALL CAPS! Island Festival. The amount of support and hard work the Dufferin Grove staff offered us was incredible, and highly recommend camping overnight to give them your support as well as checking out their programming and other awesome things that happen in the park (including Bike Polo championships and the annual Icycle bike races).
There's a PWYC dinner at 6pm, then tent set-up, movie and campfire starting at 7:30pm.
Check out the Facebook event for more information about tonight or email them at loveduffgrove@gmail.com.
And be sure to check out the Friends of Dufferin Grove website for more details about how awesome it is.
