Peaches Does Herself, Headline Writes Itself at TIFF Tonight
By jonny ~ Posted Thursday, September 13th 2012With no fancy Neil Young or U2 galas to kick things off, music has taken a bit of a backseat at this year's Toronto International Film Festival - and if that means thinky SF pieces like Looper or Cloud Atlas get some extra mainstream attention, maybe that not a bad thing. But the most notable music-movie action at this year's TIFF has a homegrown angle - Toronto expat and Berlin "shock rocker" (there has to be a better term than that) turned multi-disciplinary artist Peaches premieres her autobiographical rock-opera-looking feature film debut, Peaches Does Herself, tonight (Sept. 13) at 9 at the Lightbox. It apparently tells her story "from bedroom wannabe to electro-rockstar and beyond." We hope she doesn't skip over her early days as folk-popster Fancy Pants Hoodlum and her Wavelength-hosted farewell show at Ted's Wrecking Yard (RIP)! That was the only time we ever had full frontal nudity at a Wavelength show. We chose the accompanying still to honour that memory, and not at all to boost our web stats.
Note: Tickets are amazingly still available for tonight and two more screenings this week. Has Toronto turned its back on the Peach?? You can try and ask her yourself tomorrow night (Sept. 14) when Peaches Does the Drake.
