Oh, wait a second... if you're in Toronto, it's September, 2013, and you haven't gotten your fix of retro-futuristic, Blade Runner-ific soundtrackscapes yet this morning, then you need to check out this clip of Justin Walter playing the EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument), an analog wind controller from the early 1980s. Treated with modern-day effects and a beatbox app named Werkbench, the results would make Vangelis proud. The Brooklyn-based composer/performer and Kranky recording artist plays Wavelength next Tuesday (September 24) at the Monarch along with Dirty Projector Nat Baldwin and Toronto's own Omhouse.
