Video Hit: Omhouse - "Gutterbird"

You might have seen Steven Foster on stage this summer, commanding the drum kit with the likes of Doldrums, Snowblink and Moon King, but unless you were looking closely, you might have missed him being dragged along a gravel road by some unseen tormentor in the video for "Gutterbird," the first video from the forthcoming full-length album by his solo project, Omhouse. One of Toronto's most talented musical renaissance men, Steven steps into the singer/songwriter/guitarist role with Omhouse, and "Gutterbird" makes the transition sound effortless, starting with some incredibly fast Jim O'Rourke-style finger-picking before picking up even more speed and pop hooks along the way - the end results resembling an overly caffeinated Dirty Projectors.

And how's this for a segue: On Sept. 24, Omhouse will be joining the bill of a Wavelength show at the Monarch, alongside Dirty Projectors bassist Nat Baldwin - back to treat us to more of his delightful crooning and bowing - and Kranky Records artist Justin Walter, entrancing adept of the EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument). The Omhouse full-length is due later in the fall; meanwhile, check out the video for "Gutterbird" below.
