Christmas is better with Fresh Snow... and Del Bel
By jonny ~ Posted Thursday, December 12th 2013Happy Christmastime, Toronna! Yes, that was the handsome boys from Fresh Snow gazing back at you from the cover of NOW as you shuffled to work or school this morning. The inaugural Wavelength Artist Incubator band had a pretty awesome 2013, including taking part in our first showcase tour this past June, and you can find out more in Julia LeConte's cover story. Seeing great - and unconventional - local talent get recognized is always a nice Xmas present. Catch Fresh Snow live this Friday (Dec. 13) at the Great Hall as part of the Long Winter series, and on Jan. 11th at the Silver Dollar Room for Wavelength!
Fellow WL Incubator band Del Bel, meanwhile, have a Christmas present of their own for you - a special holiday digital single released today, consisting of a cover of "Christmas in Prison," by legendary singer/songwriter John Prine. "I found a depressing Christmas song and made it more depressing," said bandleader Tyler Belluz, candy-cane-in-cheekily. Will this take the place of "Fairytale in New York" at your drunken family sing-a-longs?? Either way, this track will have to tide you over until the release of their sophomore full-length sometime later in 2014. Oh look, Del Bel also come out of semi-hiberation to play Jan. 11th at the Silver Dollar as well!!
