JOYFULTALK at Camp Wavelength - Live Video on Exclaim!

Slo-mo sway along to our latest Camp Wavelength live video on Exclaim! TV, featuring Nova Scotia's JOYFULTALK and their homemade electronic jams. Here's what our friends at Exclaim! had to say about it:

Jay Crocker is the mastermind behind such experiments as No More Shapes, the Polaris Music Prize-nominated Ghostkeeper and now, a new project dubbed JOYFULTALK. This innovative solo endeavour yielded MUUIXX in June; each track was created with homebuilt instruments and skilful patchwork, resulting in an inventive and peculiar composition.

The range of instruments at work is too vast to be simultaneously manned by one person, so Crocker often appears alongside Dicey Parks (Lab Coast) and Will Vandermuelen to give JOYFULTALK the technical ability to perform live. The trio brought their homemade noisemakers to Artscape Gibraltar Point in August to play a set at Camp Wavelength, and we captured the act for Exclaim! TV.

In this clip, JOYFULTALK and his guests perform the
MUUIXX track "Pommel Horse." The session begins with droning ambience and a simple key-based melody, but soon swells with altered synths and oscillating rhythms.
