We had a very successful opening party for our Wavelength #ICYMI retrospective gallery exhibition the other night, with performances by Most People and Animalia, and a great crowd out to check out the music and art, including a celebrity guest or two. In case you missed the #ICYMI opening, the gallery show will be up for another month. Drop by and check out archival Wavelength posters, concert photography and videos, Camp Wavelength festival art, and a Toronto music book library! You also have the opportunity to have your say and contribute your thoughts as to "What Makes a Music City?" Gallery hours are Thursday to Sunday, noon to 7pm, and the exhibit is on the second floor of the lovely Markham House City Building Lab (610 Markham Street, just south of Bloor, west of Bathurst). Good news: The exhibit has just been held over to Sunday, February 21st!

We've got a busy week ahead here at Wavelength. Tonight (Saturday, January 16) Wavelength is teaming up with our DJ friends at Synthesexer to provide the music for the popular DJ Skate Nights at the Natrel Rink at Harbourfront Centre. Sounds like our kind of winter fun: pack up your skates or rent a pair at Harbourfront, and hit the ice to sexy, synthy sounds - think Tiga, Pet Shop Boys, Donna Summer, Air, and our pal Shamir. DJ Skate Night runs from 8-11pm, Harbourfront is at 235 Queens Quay West, and admission is FREE! Synthesexer otherwise takes place the second Friday of the month at The Piston on Bloor Street West.

Then tomorrow afternoon, we have another free event: An "Inside the Musician's Studio" workshop with Josh Korody, Toronto's reigning gear-head, owner of Candle recording studio and member of countless musical projects - most notably his shoegaze rock band Beliefs and modular synthesis solo project, Nailbiter. Come find out the secrets behind your favourite sounds as Josh will demo some of his favourite gear and discuss it with your host, Wavelength's Dean Williams. The workshop takes place at 3pm at the Markham House City Building Lab (610 Markham Street), seating is very limited, so arrive early (doors open at 2:30pm).

And then next Friday (January 22), Nailbiter will play a live set to cap off a mega-packed Wavelength show at The Silver Dollar Room (486 Spadina Avenue), as part of NeXT Shows' Class of 2016 series. The rest of the line-up includes the tropical electro-pop of Elliott Vincent Jones (formerly of Ell V Gore), the jittery new wave guitar pop of Germaphobes, the freshly rechristened techno sounds of Scott Hardware (formerly Ken Park), and the very exciting live debut of '80s-inspired R&B electro-pop act West Nile, from London, Ontario.
